T-Mobile Galaxy S24 Users Get Satellite Messaging Feature

T-Mobile customers using Samsung Galaxy S24 and Z Fold 6 phones are now seeing a satellite messaging feature on their devices. This new ‘Satellite Networks’ feature allows users to send and receive text messages when there is no cellular network available, but it requires the T-Mobile Starlink service to be activated.

The feature was initially not available but has started appearing on some user’s phones after installing the December 2024 security patch. It will only be visible in settings for those who applied for the beta testing of the ‘T-Mobile Starlink’ service, which aims to provide cell phone connectivity everywhere using a constellation of low-earth orbit (LEO) satellites.

When activated, users can access the feature by navigating to Settings » Connections » Satellite Networks. However, it’s essential to note that this feature may take longer than usual to send and receive text messages due to weather conditions and certain structures affecting the satellite connection.

The ‘Satellite Networks’ feature is not limited to Samsung phones, but currently only supported by T-Mobile and Starlink devices. The service has partnered with other network operators in multiple countries to provide it worldwide, including Australia, Canada, Chile, Japan, New Zealand, Peru, and Switzerland.
