Dayle Haddon, a renowned actress, activist, and former Sports Illustrated model, has died at the age of 76 due to carbon monoxide poisoning in her Pennsylvania home. Authorities found Haddon’s body on Friday morning after receiving reports of an unconscious person at the scene.
Haddon, who initially pursued modeling as a teenager to support her ballet classes, had a successful career spanning over two decades. She appeared on the covers of top fashion magazines like Vogue and Cosmopolitan in the 1970s and 1980s, and even landed roles in films like “Bullets Over Broadway” in 1994.
However, Haddon faced age-related biases in her younger years, with industry professionals telling her she was no longer viable at 38. Undeterred, she reentered the workforce after her husband’s death in 1991 and began promoting beauty products specifically designed for aging baby boomers.
In addition to her modeling career, Haddon founded WomenOne, an organization aimed at advancing educational opportunities for girls and women in marginalized communities. Her daughter, Ryan, has paid tribute to her mother, describing her as “everyone’s greatest champion” who inspired many through her life and legacy.
