The Los Angeles Rams became the NFC West division champions Sunday after beating the Cardinals in Week 17 and securing at least four wins from other teams to secure the top spot in the division. The win marked the Rams’ fourth division title under head coach Sean McVay, with their last one coming in 2021.
To clinch the division, the Rams needed a win over the Cardinals and for other teams like the Bills, Vikings, Commanders, and 49ers to secure at least four wins. On Sunday, the Bills defeated the Jets, the Vikings beat the Packers, and the Commanders won against the Falcons in overtime.
When asked about celebrating their division title, McVay said he’d have games on to watch outcomes of other teams but would focus on preparing for next week’s game against the Seahawks. However, if they clinched, McVay suggested a team meeting or Zoom call with congratulatory messages from players and coaches.
The Rams’ remarkable turnaround began at 1-4 but ended with nine wins in their last 11 games. Quarterback Matthew Stafford expressed pride in the team’s resilience, saying he was proud of the group despite doubts from others.
With their NFC West title secured, the Rams will host a Wild Card playoff matchup on January 11, 12, or 13 at SoFi Stadium. Possible opponents include the Packers, Vikings, Lions, and Commanders. Fans can secure tickets now or rent a luxury suite for an elevated gameday experience.
