At least 71 people have died in a traffic accident in Ethiopia’s Sidama region, according to regional officials. The incident occurred on Sunday when a truck carrying passengers lost control while passing over a bridge and plunged into the Galana River.
The victims included young people from the same area who were returning from a wedding ceremony and working at a coffee site. Of those killed, 68 were men and three were women. Four people are being treated for serious injuries at Bona Hospital, with one victim transferred to Hawassa Referral Hospital for advanced treatment.
