SSI recipients in the US may have received their January 2025 payment early due to a calendar quirk. The Social Security Administration’s payment schedule typically comes out on the first business day of each month, but for those receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI), payments can be issued before or after this date.
According to the SSA calendar, SSI recipients will receive their January 2025 payment on December 31, 2024. This is because January 1st falls on a federal holiday and payments are usually made early in these cases. The same applies to other months where holidays fall on weekdays, resulting in delayed or early payments.
For example, February SSI payments will arrive on January 31, 2025, while March payments will be issued on February 28, 2025, skipping the month of March altogether. This pattern continues throughout 2025, with some months receiving two payments and others none at all.
The SSA provides a detailed payment schedule for 2025, which can be found on their website or by contacting local offices. To determine eligibility for SSI, individuals can start the application process online, in person, or by calling 1-800-772-1213.
