YouTuber MrBeast, real name Jimmy Donaldson, has announced his engagement to girlfriend Thea Booysen. The 26-year-old revealed that he proposed on Christmas Day, sharing photos of the intimate moment.
MrBeast is the world’s most popular YouTuber with 340 million subscribers, while Thea also has her own channel, TheaBeasty, with almost 40,000 subscribers. The couple shares a love for gaming and streaming on Twitch.
In an interview with People magazine, MrBeast said he wanted a private proposal, contrary to his reputation for elaborate stunts. The couple plans a small, intimate wedding on an island away from the public eye.
Thea has been a vocal supporter of MrBeast following allegations made against him last year. However, their relationship has been shrouded in controversy surrounding MrBeast’s new series, Beast Games.
The show, which began releasing weekly episodes on December 19, has faced criticism for its treatment of contestants and reviewers have panned it as “ugly”, “shallow”, and “dull”.
