$1 Million Won in Mega Millions at Florida Publix

A lucky shopper from Florida won $1 million in the recent Mega Millions drawing, purchased at a Publix store. The winner matched five numbers to claim the prize, which is part of a “second-tier” win that rolls over the overall jackpot. The next drawing for $42 million will be held on January 3.

According to sources, no one won the grand prize of $20 million in the Tuesday, December 31, New Year’s Eve Mega Millions drawing. However, three tickets from different states matched five numbers to win $1 million each.

The Publix store in Parrish, Florida, where the ticket was purchased, has a history of selling winning lottery tickets. The store is located on the West Coast of Florida and matches up with recent secondary wins.

Florida winners have 180 days to claim their prizes, which can be claimed within 60 days for a single-payment cash option. However, claiming a prize does not guarantee anonymity for the winner.

The next Mega Millions drawing will take place at 11 p.m. EST on January 3, and the overall jackpot is expected to roll over.
