Jocelyn Wildenstein, “Catwoman,” Dies Peacefully in Sleep on New Year’s Eve

Socialite and former “Catwoman” Jocelyn Wildenstein died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, December 31, due to phlebitis, a condition that causes a blood clot to form and block one or more veins. Her longtime partner, Lloyd Klein, shared memories of her final hours, describing how they were getting ready for the new year when she suddenly passed away.

According to Klein, Wildenstein had no symptoms before her death, but he did notice that her legs were swollen due to phlebitis. Despite this, she was in good health just days before her passing, having attended high-profile events such as Fashion Week at Chanel and a dinner party at the Ritz.

Wildenstein’s addiction to plastic surgery earned her the nickname “Catwoman,” but she denied undergoing any procedures in an affidavit filed in 2018. Instead, she attributed her feline features to her Swiss heritage, saying that her high cheekbones and long hair made her look beautiful.

The former socialite received a $2.5 billion settlement from her ex-husband after their divorce in the 1990s, making her one of the wealthiest people in the world at the time. However, by 2018, her money had run out, leaving her to rely on Social Security and friends and family for support.

Wildenstein is survived by daughter Diane and son Alec Jr., who have not commented publicly on their mother’s death.
