Israel launched a series of airstrikes on Gaza City, killing over 40 people and injuring 120 others, according to the enclave’s civil defense agency. The strikes were described as high in tempo and number compared to recent days.
The Israeli military also targeted a police official in Khan Younis overnight, killing him along with several civilians. Hamas-run officials claimed the officer was involved in providing intelligence to the group’s military wing.
In another development, a delegation from Syria traveled to Saudi Arabia to seek financial aid and lift Western sanctions on the war-torn country. The delegation included Syria’s foreign minister and intelligence chief.
Israel has also carried out raids on Iranian-funded facilities in Syria, aimed at disrupting arms trafficking for Hezbollah. The Israeli military described one such raid as “complex” and one of its most challenging operations in years.
The Gaza Health Ministry reported 28 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll since Israel’s military operation began last year to 45,581. Most of those killed are women and children, according to the ministry.
Israel estimates that around 1,200 people were killed in Hamas’s October 2023 attack, including over 300 soldiers. It claims 390 soldiers have been killed in its own Gaza operation so far.
