A former Connecticut high school football player, Martin “Tiger” Bech, was among 14 people killed in a truck attack on New Year’s Eve in New Orleans. Bech, 28, died in a hospital after the incident.
Bech was a graduate of Princeton University and had worked at a New York brokerage firm. He played varsity football and lacrosse while attending Loomis Chaffee, a private boarding school in Windsor, Connecticut.
The attack, described as an “act of terrorism,” occurred on Canal and Bourbon streets in New Orleans. Dozens were injured in the incident. Loomis Chaffee released a statement mourning Bech’s death, calling him a “cherished member” of their community.
