Regular Physical Activity Screenings Linked to Better Health Outcomes

A study published in Preventing Chronic Disease found that adults screened for physical activity during well visits have lower rates of comorbid conditions such as obesity, diabetes, and hypertension compared to those who were not screened. Researchers compared 7,261 patients who were screened for inactivity with 33,445 unscreened patients.

The results showed that active patients had significantly healthier cardiometabolic profiles and a lower risk of up to 19 inactivity-related comorbid conditions. Co-author Lucas J. Carr attributes this finding to patients taking the time to engage in healthy behaviors during well visits.
