Upcoming Movie Releases in 2025: Sequels, Franchise Extensions, and New Stories

The new year promises to be exciting for movie fans, with a diverse range of films set to hit theaters in 2025. From superheroes to musicals, sci-fi to fantasy, there’s something for everyone.

Netflix is kicking off the year with its highly anticipated spy thriller “Back In Action,” starring Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx. Marvel is also bringing back beloved characters with three new movies: “Captain America: Brave New World” in February, “Thunderbolts” in May, and a new take on “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.” This time around, the team will be led by Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Vanessa Kirby.

Superman is getting a bombastic reboot starring David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan. Meanwhile, sci-fi fans can look forward to “Mickey 17” from visionary director Bong Joon Ho, starring Robert Pattinson. The film follows an expendable clone-type being on a mission in outer space.

Jurassic World: Rebirth is set for release on July 2, with a talented cast including Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey. Universal’s “How to Train Your Dragon” will soar into theaters June 13, while “Wolf Man” crawls into theaters January 17.

Other notable releases include “Karate Kid: Legends,” which reunites the franchise with Jackie Chan and Ben Wang; “Paddington in Peru,” a threequel that brings back Hugh Bonneville, Ben Whishaw, and Imelda Staunton; and “Wicked: For Good,” the second installment of the movie musical event.

The year will also see the release of Michael Jackson’s biopic, starring Jaafar Jackson and Colman Domingo. With its diverse range of films, 2025 promises to be an exciting year for movie fans.
