Arizona State star running back Cam Skattebo calls himself “the best running back in the nation” and put his confidence to the test at the College Football Playoff Quarterfinals. In a game that began with a 17-3 deficit, Skattebo led a dramatic comeback against Texas Longhorns.
Skattebo’s morning consisted of overloading on water and Powerade, which didn’t sit well during the game. On the sidelines, he vomited profusely after gaining just 111 yards in the first three quarters. However, this incident marked a turning point for Skattebo, who stated that “throwing up felt like a completely different person” afterwards.
The star running back went on to score two touchdowns and throw a game-winning 42-yard pass to wide receiver Malik McClain. Although Arizona State lost 39-31 in double overtime, Skattebo’s performance earned him the MVP award after posting 143 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. The senior’s stunning comeback will be remembered for years to come.
