A drone attack was reported at Russia’s Ust-Luga port in Leningrad Oblast on January 4, according to an independent news channel Astra. The attack is the latest in a series of strikes against Russian facilities by Ukraine.
Most of the drones were shot down near Novotrans, a transportation company, but one drone damaged a building window at the port. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported. Governor Aleksandr Drozdenko confirmed that four drones were downed using electronic warfare and firearms.
This attack is not an isolated incident, as a similar strike occurred on January 24, 2024, when Novatek’s gas-condensate plant caught fire at the port. The Ust-Luga Commercial Seaport, which began operations in 2001, has become one of Russia’s largest seaports since the early 2020s.
