A dramatic incident occurred on Thursday in Seoul, South Korea, when an elderly couple’s car fell into a sinkhole while they were traveling to the Seongsandaegyo Bridge. The 76-year-old woman suffered a cardiac arrest and was given CPR; her pulse returned later. It is unclear what injuries, if any, the 82-year-old man sustained.
The incident occurred on Seongsan-ro at around 11:30 am when the sinkhole opened up before the couple drove into it. Pictures and video were published showing the white Tivoli SUV lying on its side in the hole. The vehicle was later removed from the site, which has been restricted for emergency services to clear.
An investigation is underway to determine what caused the sinkhole. Traffic congestion has resulted in the South Korean capital as a result of the incident.
