Transport for London (TfL), the government body responsible for managing Greater London’s transportation system, is currently experiencing a cyberattack. The details are scarce at this time, but TfL Chief Technology Officer Shashi Verma confirmed that no evidence of data compromise has been found.
In a statement to the BBC, Verma said: “We have introduced a number of measures to our internal systems to deal with an ongoing cybersecurity incident.” He added that the security of their systems and customer data is crucial and they will continue to assess the situation throughout and after the incident.
There is currently no impact on TfL services, and the organization is working closely with the National Crime Agency and the National Cyber Security Centre to respond to the incident. Employees were asked to work from home if possible due to the attack affecting only the backroom systems at the corporate headquarters.
This is not the first time TfL has been involved in a cyber-incident, as they experienced a major vulnerability in the MOVEit managed file transfer tool last year, which was exploited by the Cl0p ransomware operation.
