Vikings-Lions Draw Largest Sunday Night Football Audience Ever

The 2024 NFL regular season concluded with a record-breaking viewership for the Vikings-Lions game on NBC and Peacock. The all-important matchup drew an average of 28.5 million viewers, surpassing the previous third-largest Sunday Night Football audience ever.

This number trails only two other games: the 2012 Washington-Dallas finale (30.5 million) and the 2024 season opener between Ravens and Chiefs (29.2 million). The Vikings-Lions game outperformed last year’s regular-season finale by 24 percent, indicating a significant increase in interest.

The recent viewership milestone is also expected to be the most-watched primetime show since the start of the season. As the postseason progresses, expectations rise, culminating in the annual nine-figure audience for Super Bowl, which will likely surpass the record-breaking viewership seen so far this year.
