Roborock Unveils AI-Powered Robot Vacuum with Folding Arm

Chinese robot vacuum cleaner company Roborock has revealed a new model with an artificial intelligence-powered folding arm, capable of detecting and removing obstacles like socks and small towels weighing less than 300 grams.

The Roborock Saros Z70 features the latest advancements in AI technology, allowing it to adapt to different environments. The company’s president, Quan Gang, believes that robot vacuum cleaners will become as essential as washing machines within the next three years.

According to Quan, the integration of AI is key to improving robot vacuum penetration rates, which remain low globally. Roborock has already gained recognition for its high-quality robot vacuums, including the S8 MaxV Ultra and Qrevo S models.

The Saros Z70’s AI-powered features include automatic detection of obstacles, lidar-based navigation, and adaptation to different floor types. The company plans to release the model in major global markets in the first half of this year, with pricing yet to be announced.

Roborock’s focus on research and development has led to significant investments in its dedicated lab and research institute, with plans to expand its workforce to around 300 researchers.
