Deadly Tibetan Earthquake Strikes Remote Region

A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck a remote area in Tibet on Tuesday, killing at least 126 people and injuring over 188. The quake, which hit at 9 a.m., caused widespread damage to houses and infrastructure in Dingri County. State media reported that more than 1,000 homes were affected, with many located along the Himalayan border with Nepal. This is China’s deadliest earthquake since December 2023, when 151 people lost their lives in a similar quake in Gansu and Qinghai provinces.
