Hoda Kotb, a co-anchor on NBC’s “Today” show, has announced her departure after nearly two decades at the show and six years as lead co-anchor. Before she leaves, she is setting the stage for her next chapter by launching a wellness company that includes a mobile app, retreats, and a podcast.
Kotb revealed her plan to launch the wellness initiative during an interview with Kelly Clarkson on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” She explained how she got hooked on the wellness space a few years ago while trying out various treatments. The idea came after Kotb noticed improvements in her physical and mental well-being.
Although the project is still in its early stages, Kotb anticipates launching it in the spring. Fans might not be surprised by this move, as Kotb previously took “Today” viewers on a wellness retreat at Miraval Austin Resort and Spa in Houston.
In reflecting on her departure from “Today,” Kotb shared that she will miss the friendships with colleagues Al Roker, Jenna Bush Hager, and Savannah Guthrie. She also expressed difficulty saying goodbye to her role but is excited for this new chapter. Kotb’s company aims to provide a holistic approach to wellness beyond just physical health.
A new co-anchor, Craig Melvin, has been announced to replace Kotb. He shared his favorite memory of working with Kotb, who he credits with capturing the spirit of Team USA during the Olympics.
