Swippitt Gadget Boosts Phone Battery Life in Seconds

The Swippitt is a tabletop device that inserts a freshly charged battery into your phone’s case as needed. At CES 2025, it was showcased and will ship in June. This gadget solves the common problem of running out of battery quickly by keeping batteries continuously charged and allowing for quick swaps.

Phone manufacturers typically focus on making phones more power-efficient, increasing battery size, or improving charging speeds. The Swippitt, however, uses a unique approach by keeping batteries charged and replacing them as needed. It is expected to work with iPhone 14, 15, and 16 models at launch, with Android support coming later.

While the Swippitt has some benefits, it also comes with major caveats. The device requires a bulky case, which may not appeal to those who prefer slim phones or small purses. The price is also a significant concern, with the hub costing $450 and the Link case $120. This makes it more expensive than a PlayStation 5.

To address these concerns, Swippitt’s founders believe that the device will be ideal for communal spaces like airports and college dormitories where phones need to be frequently charged. The app allows users to reserve specific batteries within the hub, ensuring access to charged batteries in a timely manner.

Despite its novelty, the Swippitt may not be affordable for most consumers. Its price is likely to be a significant barrier to adoption.
