Nvidia Announces Blackwell Launch and Physical AI Plans

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang delivered a positive update on the company’s Blackwell launch, introduced new products, and outlined plans for “physical AI” at CES 2025. The announcement boosted Nvidia stock, but it ultimately fell Tuesday.

Huang kicked off his speech by announcing that the company’s latest generation AI processor series, Blackwell, is now in full production. Cloud service providers have systems up and running, with 15 computer makers participating.

Nvidia also introduced the GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics processing units and a family of laptop computers using these new GPUs. The top-of-the-line GPU has 92 billion transistors and delivers 3,352 trillion AI operations per second (TOPS).

Analysts praised Nvidia’s plans for physical AI, with some keeping their buy ratings on the stock. Rosenblatt Securities analyst Hans Mosesmann reiterated his rating, citing Nvidia’s continued enhancements in AI hardware and software.

The company also announced partnerships with driverless truck startup Aurora and automotive tech firm Continental, as well as collaborations with radar sensor maker Arbe and lidar sensor maker Innoviz on AI driving capabilities.

Nvidia stock spiked to a record high before retreating 6.2% to close at 140.14, despite positive reactions from analysts.
