AMD has confirmed that its next-gen Radeon RX 9070 series, including the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 “RDNA 4” GPUs, will go on pre-order starting January 23rd. The RDNA 4 architecture-based GPUs will be available in both reference and non-reference flavors from leading AIBs like ASUS, ASRock, and Gigabyte.
The Radeon RX 9070 series is expected to compete against NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4070 for the high-end market. The XT variant of the GPU will offer more performance, while the non-XT model will be a cost-effective option.
AMD has simplified its naming scheme to match its Ryzen 9000 series CPUs, with the 9070 representing an NVIDIA “70” class competitor and the 9060 representing an NVIDIA “60” class competitor. The company has not revealed pricing or specifications for the GPUs yet.
Pre-orders for the Radeon RX 9070 XT & RX 9070 GPUs will start on January 23rd at 9 AM Eastern Time, but it’s unclear if this is the finalized pre-order date. The launch date is expected to be in Q1 2025, although no exact date has been confirmed.
The Radeon RX 9070 series will feature up to 16 GB of video memory and will come equipped with RDNA 4 architecture-based GPUs. AMD will also share more information on its RDNA 4 GPUs in the coming days, so stay tuned for updates.
