Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has made five changes to his side ahead of tonight’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Newcastle United. Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz have been passed fit to start, after struggling with illness recently.
Gabriel Jesus and Mikel Merino drop to the bench in their place, while Jurrien Timber returns from suspension and Thomas Partey moves into midfield alongside Riccardo Calafiori. Ethan Nwaneri’s injury means Gabriel Martinelli starts on the wing instead.
Newcastle United have made one change to their starting XI, with Joe Willock replacing Bruno Guimaraes due to suspension. The Magpies’ skipper has missed just seven matches since joining in January 2022, and Arsenal will look to take advantage of his absence.
