Samsung has introduced its AI Subscription Club service in South Korea, allowing customers to rent home appliances without buying them. The service will expand to Galaxy smartphones and tablets next month, providing users with the opportunity to try out Samsung devices before purchasing.
The subscription model could be beneficial for those who want to test a device’s features before committing to a full purchase. However, some consumers may not be sold on the idea of renting or subscribing to their mobile phone.
As an example, a user reported having cracked their Galaxy S23 Ultra screen just after its warranty expired due to a simple fall. In contrast, they had previously owned an iPhone that was prone to software issues but did not experience any physical damage.
It’s worth noting that for many people, mobile phones are now an integral part of daily life, making rental or subscription services seem unnecessary. For those who want to stay up-to-date with automatic device upgrades every year, the subscription model might make sense.
The AI Subscription Club service will be available starting next month for eligible Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets featuring AI-powered features. The subscription plans have not been announced yet.
