Nintendo has long been tight-lipped about its next-generation console, but the rumors have finally gained momentum. At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 in Las Vegas, accessory maker Genki showcased a range of products for an unannounced Nintendo Switch sequel, dubbed “Switch 2.” The company even brought a dummy unit to the trade show, giving us our first look at what’s expected to be the console’s design.
According to reports, the Switch 2 will retain its home console and handheld hybrid form factor. However, the Joy-Con controllers have undergone significant changes, with a new magnetic connection system and an additional button on the right side. These details were confirmed by Genki, which also revealed plans to release a screen protector for the new console.
While this development raises questions about Nintendo’s approach to its next-gen console, it’s essential to note that everything is unconfirmed until official confirmation from the company. With rumors and leaks pouring in almost daily, we can only speculate on what the Switch 2 might offer.
CES attendees were treated to an extensive lineup of Genki products, all bearing the “Switch 2” moniker. The news comes as no surprise, given Nintendo’s recent hesitation in officially referring to its next console as anything other than a “successor to the Nintendo Switch.”
