YouTube Vlogger Mom’s Daughter Reveals Childhood Abuse in New Book

Shari Franke, daughter of YouTube vlogger Ruby Franke, has released a book about her childhood growing up with abuse. In ‘The House of My Mother: A Daughter’s Quest for Freedom,’ Shari shares her story for the first time, describing a childhood marked by physical and psychological abuse.

According to Shari, her mother began using physical discipline at a young age, including slapping her and cutting off a lock of hair from one of her siblings. However, when licensed mental health counselor Jodi Hildebrandt entered their lives through therapy sessions, the discipline shifted to a more psychological approach.

Shari Franke recalls feeling wary of Hildebrandt’s intentions due to the “strange vibes” between them. She describes Hildebrandt as “repressed, self-loathing, deeply damaged,” and claims that her mother’s treatment was not just about discipline but also about control.

The family’s situation came to light in August 2023, when Shari Franke’s youngest siblings were found malnourished and severely wounded at their home. An investigation by authorities revealed no evidence of abuse, despite Shari’s concerns and multiple calls to the authorities.

In her book, Shari expresses her uncertainty about whether her mother truly understands the extent of the harm caused. Shari has announced that she will be keeping a low profile moving forward, while her father has stated he is helping his youngest children in their recovery.
