Samsung is introducing a new rental program for its Galaxy phones through the “AI Subscription Club” service. The program, which was initially launched for home appliances in South Korea last year, will now offer access to Galaxy smartphones and tablets starting next month. According to Vice Chairman Han Jong-hee, Samsung plans to apply the subscription service to Galaxy smartphones starting February 2025.
The AI Subscription Club does not offer the company’s AI features, but rather provides access to devices with AI-powered capabilities. The program aims to provide customers with an affordable option to upgrade their phones every year by renting the latest Galaxy models available in South Korea. If successful, this could become a steady stream of revenue for Samsung.
The service will initially be available in South Korea and may expand to other regions in the future. No details have been revealed about the availability or pricing of the rented Galaxy phones yet. However, it is expected that customers will be able to rent devices through the subscription service starting February 2025.
