The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) franchise show “Monday Night Raw” made its debut on Netflix last night, featuring a star-studded lineup that included major stars, championship matches, and hip-hop beefs. The event broadcasted live from the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, CA, home of the LA Clippers.
The evening began with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson shedding his heel persona to express gratitude to the WWE Universe and rival Cody Rhodes, the Universal Champion he defeated last year. The Rock also gave props to his real-life cousin Roman Reigns, who won a match against Solo Sikoa and earned the title of “Tribal Chief.”
Later in the night, Jey Uso took on Drew McIntyre, igniting the crowd with an appearance by Travis Scott, who brought the rapper’s gold chains and custom WWE title belt to the ring. Scott also made appearances backstage, interacting with The Rock and other celebrities attending the event.
Other notable matches included CM Punk beating Seth Rollins, Rhea Ripley winning back her Women’s Title from Liv Morgan, and John Cena announcing his yearlong farewell tour as a wrestler. Cena promised that he would enter and win the February Premium Live Event “The Royal Rumble,” which will determine the champion for WrestleMania in spring.
WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H stated that Travis Scott is an incredible fan who wants to participate in WWE, and hinted that Scott may one day step into the ring. The event also featured appearances by celebrities such as Seth Green, Macaulay Culkin, Tiffany Haddish, and Michael Che.
“Raw” airs every Monday at 8 p.m. EST on Netflix.
