Samsung has confirmed plans to launch its AI-powered smartphone subscription service worldwide. The company’s vice chair, Han Jong-hee, announced that the subscription model will be available for both Galaxy phones and the Ballie AI robot starting next month.
The AI Subscription Club, initially launched in South Korea last December, offers a monthly fee for access to exclusive features on various devices, including TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, and more. However, this service is not required to use Samsung’s built-in AI capabilities on its phones and other devices, which will remain free to users until at least the end of 2025.
The subscription model has been successful in South Korea, where consumers can sign up for monthly payments with optional repair services for a lower upfront cost. Whether this service expands globally remains unclear, but Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event on January 22nd may provide more information about its plans.
