Iowa State’s third-ranked basketball team edged out Texas Tech 85-84 in a tightly-contested overtime game, handing the Red Raiders their first road loss since 2019.
The win marks Iowa State’s first road victory over Texas Tech since 2019. With 4.1 seconds left in overtime, Joshua Jefferson was fouled attempting a layup and made both free throws to put Iowa State up by one point. Derrion Williams’ buzzer-beater attempt for Texas Tech was off the mark.

The game was a back-and-forth battle, with four lead changes in the final 49 seconds. Jones’ three-pointer opened overtime for Iowa State, but Texas Tech responded with a 7-0 run to take an 81-77 lead. The Cyclones eventually chipped away the deficit and won the game.
For Texas Tech, J.T. Toppin, Christian Anderson, and Chance McMillian each scored 18 points. Darrion Williams added 15 points. The Red Raiders shot 28-of-66 from the field and 9-of-20 from three-point range.
