SpaceX successfully launched its record-breaking 25th reusable Falcon 9 booster flight from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on Friday afternoon. The Starlink 12-12 mission carried a payload of 21 new satellites into orbit, including 13 with direct-to-cell capabilities.
The rocket’s first-stage booster landed safely on the Just Read the Instructions drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean after stages separated during the flight. This marks the 25th successful reuse of a Falcon 9 booster, following previous missions like Starlink launches and NASA’s Crew-3 and Crew-4 missions.
Meanwhile, Blue Origin’s New Glenn launch has been delayed to no earlier than 1 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, due to unfavorable conditions in the Atlantic Ocean. The company aims to land the first-stage booster on the inaugural flight, a historic endeavor that has never been attempted before.
As SpaceX continues to push the boundaries of reusability, it remains to be seen how many flights a reusable Falcon 9 booster will eventually see.
