Giles County Public Schools and Botetourt County Public Schools are reviewing the potential effects of a recent cybersecurity incident involving education software provider PowerSchool. The incident, which occurred in late December, was limited to PowerSchool’s internal systems, but affected data from hundreds of school districts nationwide. Both schools have contacted PowerSchool to determine the scope of impact on their student and employee information. While security measures were not breached, both districts take student privacy seriously and are working with PowerSchool to notify any individuals whose information may have been compromised.
