Paul Feig Sets Record Straight on A Simple Favor 2 Amid Rumors and Lawsuits

Director Paul Feig has addressed rumors circulating online about the release of A Simple Favor 2, starring Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick. In response to claims that Amazon had indefinitely shelved the film due to Lively’s alleged refusal to promote it amid her legal battle with costar Justin Baldoni, Feig took to X to set the record straight.

Feig confirmed that the movie is indeed finished and will be released soon, saying “don’t believe anything you read on social media these days.” He also expressed his support for Lively, calling her one of the most professional, creative, and talented people he’s ever worked with. Feig added that he thinks it’s awful she was subjected to a smear campaign against her.

Meanwhile, Baldoni has filed a lawsuit against The New York Times, alleging libel and other forms of defamation. The sequel to A Simple Favor is about Stephanie (Kendrick) investigating the disappearance of her friend Emily (Lively). In an interview with PEOPLE, Anna Kendrick teased the film, describing it as “nuts” and stating that it’s even crazier than the first movie.

Feig recently reunited with Lively, Kendrick, and Henry Golding to film the sequel, which is expected to be released soon. The director’s statement has brought clarity to the situation, and fans can now look forward to seeing the next installment in the A Simple Favor series.
