Kohl’s Closes 27 Underperforming Stores Nationwide

Kohl’s department store chain is closing 27 underperforming stores across 15 states, including none in Wisconsin, to boost profitability and improve declining sales. This decision comes as the Menomonee Falls-based company faces new leadership after posting 11 consecutive quarters of sales declines.

Kohl’s has a total of 1,150 stores and has informed employees who will be affected by the closures about a “competitive severance package” or opportunities to apply for open roles at other locations. The list of stores set for closure includes 10 in California, with no Wisconsin stores among those closing.
