Apple introduced AI-powered notification summaries with iOS 18, providing users with a concise view of their notifications on the lock screen. However, the feature can be inaccurate at times.
To manage or disable these summaries, follow these steps:
For iPhone and iPad: Go to Settings > Notifications and toggle off the Summarize Notifications option at the top. Alternatively, you can turn it off for specific apps by selecting a particular app in this section.
On Mac, navigate to System Settings > Notifications, click the Summarize Notifications tab, and select “Turn Off.” This will disable notifications summaries for all apps.
Note that notification summaries cannot be disabled on an app-by-app basis for categories like news, productivity, utility, shopping, travel, or finance. Apple has stated plans to release a software update in January to better indicate the use of AI-generated summaries and acknowledge potential errors.
