Nick Taylor Wins Theatrical Finish to Win Sony Open

Nick Taylor of Canada won the Sony Open by one stroke, thanks to an eagle chip on the 18th hole that sent him into a playoff against Nico Echavarria. Taylor’s clutch play included a superb pitch that set up a birdie putt, which he sunk with ease.

The two players finished tied at 16 under par, with Taylor securing his fifth PGA Tour title and fourth in a row. He had previously won the Phoenix Open and Canadian Open in playoffs.

Taylor faced stiff competition from Stephan Jaeger and J.J. Spaun, who both had chances to win but ultimately fell short. Echavarria also put up a strong showing, despite missing several key putts throughout his round.

The victory sends Taylor to the Masters again, providing a welcome boost after a disappointing end to last season.
