Prospect Medical Holdings Filing for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Proceedings

Prospect Medical Holdings, a healthcare company owning three hospitals in Connecticut, has initiated chapter 11 proceedings in the US Bankruptcy Court. The company is seeking approval from the court to continue paying employee wages and benefits.

Governor Ned Lamont stated that his administration has been preparing for this eventuality and will ensure the three hospitals remain open. A cross-agency team is working to maintain hospital operations and find new operators for the institutions.

Attorney General William Tong expressed disappointment with Prospect’s decision but emphasized the company’s obligation to patient care and safety remains unchanged.
