Billy Bob Thornton on Landman Season Finale: Demi Moore’s Big Role and Tommy’s Cartel Troubles

Billy Bob Thornton, star of Taylor Sheridan’s drama series Landman, discussed the show’s first season finale and upcoming second season. The episode saw a special appearance by Hollywood great Andy Garcia as Galino, a powerful and practical man.

Thornton revealed that he has known Garcia for years and it was natural working together. Garcia’s character played a significant role in the finale, saving Thornton’s character Tommy Norris from danger.

When asked if Garcia will play a larger role in season 2, Thornton replied that it’s likely. He also praised Jerry Jones’s speech at Monty’s bedside, calling it “really great” and describing it as like meeting him for the first time.

Thornton talked about his own connections to wildfires, having lost his house in the 1993 Malibu fire. He shared his thoughts on Tommy’s encounter with a coyote in his backyard, which he believes is symbolic of Tommy’s connection to the land and his place in it.

The actor also discussed Demi Moore’s character Cami, Monty’s wife, stating that she will likely have a greater presence in season 2. However, Thornton criticized the show’s formula for its second half of the season, calling it “late-period-Yellowstone sludge” with too much soap opera-like content.

Despite this criticism, Thornton remains optimistic about the show’s future and is looking forward to season 2. He praised his co-star Angela Larter, saying that she drives Tommy crazy but deeply loves him.
