Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake Rumors Heat Up with Improved Combat

A long-rumored remake of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion is reportedly in development, featuring improved gameplay and combat systems. According to a report from MP1st, the remake will utilize Unreal Engine 5 and make changes to the Stamina, Sneaking, Archery, and Blocking systems to reduce frustration. The game’s heads-up display (HUD) will also be modified for better information clarity.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, initially released in 2006, was widely acclaimed and sold over 3.5 million copies. If confirmed, the remake would join a packed lineup of Xbox titles in 2025, including Avowed, The Outer Worlds 2, South of Midnight, Fable, and DOOM: The Dark Ages.

Assuming its authenticity, fans are eager to see how far the remake goes while maintaining the classic Oblivion feel. With Unreal Engine 5’s impact on modding, the findings from this project may also inform the development of a similarly rumored Fallout 3 remake. Platforms have not been confirmed, but it is likely that the game will launch across Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and possibly Nintendo Switch 2.
