Neil Gaiman Accused of Sexual Assault by 9 Women

Award-winning author Neil Gaiman is facing a wave of new allegations of sexual assault from nearly a dozen women, including four previously unreported cases. The accusations surfaced after a Vulture report outlined the claims against Gaiman, who is known for works like “The Sandman,” “Good Omens,” and “American Gods.”

According to the report, most of the alleged assaults occurred when Gaiman was in his 40s or older, with one exception where a woman claims he forcibly kissed her in 1986. Some of the women were fans and worked with him at the time of the incidents.

Gaiman’s representatives have defended him, claiming the incidents were consensual and instances of practicing BDSM. However, many of the accusers describe non-consensual acts, including forcible oral and anal sex without lubrication, physical torture, and being called “slave” or subjected to humiliating experiences.

The allegations have contributed to several project cancellations or changes, including Disney’s pause on its film adaptation of “The Graveyard Book” and Amazon Prime Video’s decision to end the series “Good Omens” with a shortened season. Netflix has yet to comment on the future of its TV adaptation of “The Sandman.”

An investigation by Vulture also spoke to friends of Gaiman’s ex-wife, Amanda Palmer, who claimed the couple had an open relationship and that Gaiman’s actions contributed to their divorce. The report suggests Gaiman never attended counseling despite being suggested it by his wife after discovering the alleged incidents.
