Neil Gaiman Faces New Allegations of Assault and Misconduct

British author Neil Gaiman has faced fresh allegations of sexual misconduct, including assault and coercion, made by eight women in a New York Magazine article. The claims come months after similar accusations were raised against him.

According to the report, the alleged victims describe being sexually assaulted or coerced by Gaiman, who was 64 years old at the time of the incidents. One of the complainants, a nanny working for Gaiman’s second wife, Amanda Palmer, claimed he assaulted her in a hotel room while his son played with an iPad.

Most of the alleged victims were in their 20s or younger, and some as young as 18. The incidents took place when Gaiman was in his 40s or older.

This comes after five more women made similar allegations against Gaiman in a six-part podcast series titled Master by Tortoise Media.

JK Rowling has spoken out on the allegations, comparing them to cases of Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein and criticizing the literary community’s response. In a tweet, she noted that while the literary crowd loudly condemned Weinstein before his conviction, it has been less vocal in addressing Gaiman’s accusations from young women who never met him but share similar stories.

Gaiman’s previous allegations were made public in 2023, with some reports describing him as a serial abuser. His books, including “Good Omens”, “American Gods”, and “The Sandman”, have been adapted into popular TV series.
