Deion Sanders in Running for Cowboys Head Coach

The Dallas Cowboys are searching for a new head coach after Mike McCarthy’s departure, and former cornerback Deion Sanders is already in the conversation. According to a source, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones spoke with Sanders on Monday, sparking interest in the potential hire.

Sanders, currently coaching at Colorado, posted a 13-12 record last season and has a strong track record with the university. Despite being asked about potential interest from NFL teams, he expressed his happiness and enthusiasm for staying put. However, it seems that Jones’ conversation may have reignited Sanders’ interest in the Cowboys.

Sanders played five seasons for the Cowboys before hanging up his cleats and now maintains a close relationship with the team’s owner. The NFL’s Rooney Rule requires teams to interview two external minority head coach candidates, but no interviews have been scheduled yet.
