A 45-day spiritual gathering known as Mahakumbh Mela has begun in India, attracting both Indians and overseas visitors. An Indian-origin man, Jitesh Prabhakar, who is now a German citizen, revealed why he participated in the event along with his wife Saskia Knauf and their toddler son Aditya.
Jitesh explained that his spiritual connection should not be limited by his geographical location. As an avid yogi, he believes it’s essential to stay grounded and focus on one’s inner self. He shared, “It doesn’t matter if I live here or abroad – the connection should be there.”
Saskia Knauf, Jitesh’s wife, expressed her excitement about attending the Mahakumbh Mela. She stated, “I am very excited.” The event has drawn over one crore devotees to take a dip in the sacred Triveni Sangam on its first day.
The gathering is expected to continue with a record number of participants for the ‘Amrit Snan’ ceremony on Tuesday, marking Makar Sankranti. This Hindu festival signifies the end of winter and the beginning of a new agricultural cycle.
