Amazon Ditches ‘Try Before You Buy’ Program After 8 Years

Amazon is ending its “Try Before You Buy” service, which allows Prime customers to test apparel items for free before deciding whether to keep them. The program will end on January 31st due to customer preference, with many opting for the broader selection and faster delivery speeds available on Amazon’s main site.

According to an Amazon spokesperson, the decision was made in response to growing popularity of AI-powered features such as virtual try-on and personalized size recommendations, which are now being used by customers to find a better fit. Despite its similarities to personal styling services like Stitch Fix, Amazon does not offer styling with “Try Before You Buy” – instead, customers can browse from a wide selection of items.

Customers will still be able to enjoy free shipping and easy returns on full apparel selections, but the program is being phased out in favor of these more comprehensive options. The move marks another cost-cutting measure for Amazon, which has been streamlining its initiatives in recent months.
