Anthony Edwards Fined $50K Again for Obscene Gesture

NBA star Anthony Edwards has been fined $50,000 by the league for making another obscene gesture towards a game official. The fine brings his total season punishment to $285,000, the highest amount any player has been penalized this year.

Edwards, 23, apologized for his actions, saying he made a “careless, young, dumb mistake” that had nothing to do with the referees. He also acknowledged having nine technical fouls on the season so far, most coming in the first half.

The fine is Edwards’ fifth behavioral transgression this season, following other infractions for profanity during interviews and public criticism of officiating. In December, he was docked $100,000 for a live television interview, while in November, he received a similar fine for an obscene gesture on the court.

Edwards’ recent actions have raised concerns about his behavior, but he has shown improvement in his previous games, scoring 41 points in Monday’s win.
