Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel got emotional Monday night while addressing the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles. The wildfires have caused significant disruptions, including the evacuation of his studio and many employees from their homes.
Kimmel showed footage of how close the fire came to where “Jimmy Kimmel Live” is filmed, noting that several employees lost their homes to the fires. He described the experience as “sickening, shocking, and awful,” but also highlighted the resilience and solidarity shown by Angelenos in the face of disaster.
Kimmel took aim at President-elect Donald Trump’s comments on the disaster, which he deemed “vile” and “irresponsible.” Instead, he focused on thanking firefighters, police, National Guard members, rescue workers, doctors, nurses, EMTs, and pilots who risked their lives to assist in the relief efforts.
The host expressed gratitude to local media for their coverage and shared his own personal experience of seeking shelter with 19 people and four dogs during evacuations. Kimmel ended his monologue by thanking all those involved in the relief efforts, saying “Thank God for all of you.”
