Canadian-born swimmer Stephen El Gidi traded in his racing goggles for a pastry chef’s hat, opening Drizzle Cheesecakes in Irving, Texas. El Gidi’s competitive spirit drove him to try selling cheesecakes at Six Flags Over Texas before landing a concession stand at the State Fair of Texas. His award-winning Biscoff Delight cheesecake earned it top honors at the 2023 Big Tex Choice Awards.
After months of preparation, Drizzle Cheesecakes will officially open on January 18, 2025. The shop offers six flavors made with a New York-style cheesecake base and topped with various goodies like chocolate and Oreos. Espresso drinks will also be available.
El Gidi credits Six Flags and the State Fair as key pop-up experiences that helped him turn his dessert business into a full-time venture. He’s now ready to take on the challenge of running his first restaurant, where he’ll share surprise cheesecake tastings and secret menu items with Instagram followers. To celebrate its grand opening, Drizzle Cheesecakes is offering 30% off all cheesecakes on January 18 and 19, 2025.
