LA Suspect Admits to Starting Fires for ‘Smell of Burning Leaves’

A suspect was arrested Tuesday in Pacoima after admitting to starting a small fire that burned a tree, according to Los Angeles Police Department Chief Jim McDonnell. The arrest came after officers responded to a radio call about a possible arsonist in the area.

The suspect, who has not been named, admitted to setting multiple fires, including one near Vermont Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard in East Hollywood. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, and police took the individual into custody.

Chief McDonnell stated that the suspect enjoyed causing chaos and destruction, but there is no indication that the suspects are connected to major fires burning in Los Angeles County. The department expressed gratitude to those who provided tips and remained vigilant in keeping the city safe.
