Nintendo’s Donkey Kong Country Returns HD remaster is under fire once again due to the exclusion of original developers from its credits. The game, developed by Forever Entertainment, only acknowledges the original 2010 Wii game creators with a statement saying they contributed to the work.
This is not the first time Nintendo has faced criticism for omitting developers’ names in credits; Retro Studios was also left out of the Metroid Prime Remastered credits list in 2023. The move sparked outrage from the original technical lead engineer, Jack Mathews, who called it a “tragedy” and said it would be an emotional experience for his son to play the game without seeing their names.
Nintendo has been criticized before for not including contractors and translators in its credit rolls, sparking further controversy. The company remains silent on the matter, having not responded publicly to requests for comment.
